Bio: Jon is counsel at TBG and he concentrates his practice on commercial litigation, real estate, construction and corporate matters. A large portion of his time is also spent offering outside general counsel services. He handles challenges on behalf of his clients in the state courts of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. In his general civil litigation practice he uses strong advocacy, problem-solving, drafting, and leadership skills to assist businesses, institutions and individuals in navigating the litigation process. He has assisted clients with disputes that include zoning ordinance issues, breach of contract, and landlord/tenant matters. As part of this portion of his practice he handles a wide range of legal tasks such as taking / defending depositions, preparing both offensive and defensive pleadings and motions, preparing and responding to written discovery, conducting research for all stages of litigation, procuring of expert witnesses and counseling clients prior to sitting for depositions or testifying in court. In his real estate practice, Jon has assisted with real estate sales and real estate financing transactions, including multiple multi-million dollar loan refinance, and most recently, the sale of a mobile home park worth more than of 2.4 million dollars. He has also negotiated and drafted multiple long-term commercial leases and both pursued and defended foreclosure actions and confession of judgment matters. He is adept at drafting and reviewing all manner of documentation relating to real estate transactions and disputes. In his construction practice, Jon has represented owners, general contractor and subcontractors in the negotiation, drafting and review of contracts. His clients include construction companies, real estate developers and property owners. He has also litigated construction based contract disputes and has both secured and defended against mechanic’s liens on behalf of his clients. In his role as outside general counsel Jon assists businesses, institutions and individuals. His clients range from startups to small and midsize businesses. In this role he helps in identifying and managing litigation risk, resolving disputes and planning/achieving overall business objectives. He previously worked in the healthcare defense group of a mid to large size firm headquartered in Lancaster where he represented doctors, hospitals, and healthcare providers in medical professional liability cases. He also represented business owners and corporate entities in his commercial litigation practice. Prior to that he was with a firm in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania focusing exclusively on complex mass tort and general liability defense litigation. In that capacity he represented product manufacturers, suppliers, contractors and employers in litigation proceedings.
